Detailed description of Chestnut Hills Golf Club | Chestnut Hills Golf course

Chestnut Hills Golf Club is a Public, 18 hole golf course located in Fort Wayne, Indiana.

Chestnut Hills Golf Club first opened for play in 1995. The course was designed by Clyde B. Johnston and Fuzzy Zoeller.

Chestnut Hills Golf Course is known to have fast greens and many creeks intersecting its fairways.  The course was built on what was once Indiana farmland.  There is a combination of tree-lined fairways and hilly terrain.

Water comes into play throughout the design, including hole #18, a 548-yard, par 5, with a stream that must be carried on the second shot.  The fairway doglegs to the left on this hole and the green is well bunkered.

Par for the course is 72. From the back tees the course plays to ,6996 yards. From the forward tees the course measures 5,206 yards. The longest hole on the course is # 9, a par-5 that plays to 575 yards. The shortest hole on the course is # 5, a par-3 that plays to 154 yards from the back tees.

Watch out for # 15, a 430 yard par-4 challenge and the #1 handicap hole on the course. The easiest hole is # 7, a 191 yard par-3.

Got the first tee time here at 9am so I could make my 2nd tee time of 12:15pm at nearby Autumn Ridge GC......my "Double-header" day. With four (4) tee boxes you have some big yardage jumps from Blues 7,012yd / 73.8 / 133 down to 5,143yd / 64.9 / 112 on this Par 36/36 water infested layout. I believe there are only three (3) holes that water doesn't come into play. This is a very nice Golfing community but with the houses mostly moved back and hidden by the bordering trees. I decided to play from the Whites (3,267/3,281 / 71.6 / 127) as all of the Par 4's were between 396-430yds and what little wind there was, I didn't want to work that hard. The Front 9 starts out as a wide open 401-249yd Par 4 with no water so enjoy because it changes quickly. The #2 400-301yd Par 4 has a creek crossing in front of the green so full carry is required. The #3 542-428yd Par 5 has a creek crossing in front of the green also, but add boarding sand traps your last 130yds in adds to its Hcp 3 ranking. Now on #4 is their Hcp 1 Par 4 at 396-303yds and water is everywhere from tee to green so stay clean. The #5 Par 3 has water front/left so pick your 154-102yd club and hit the green or else. The #7 Par 3 is 191-133yds with the green tucked behind a nice big pond with bailout left. The last two (2) holes have water down the complete righthand side but the fairways have generous landing areas, so use them. The Back 9 on #11 is a 392-321yd Par 4 with a tee landing area that empties into a marsh for a 100yd carry to the green. The #12 Par 5 is a 556-410yd Hcp 4 that is just long and narrow hole with a elevated green, water to the left. The #13 is a 405-286yd dogleg left Par 4 around a pond so middle/right with 220yd drive to see the green. The #14 a 186-97yd Par 3 is a Hcp 18 but the tee to green pond carry will make you think otherwise. The #15 is a 430-294yd Par 4 and its Hcp 2 is because of narrow and water crossing 140yd from the green. The #17 has water on both sides of this 402-304yd dogleg left hole. Finishing up with a 548-449yd Par 5 Hcp 6 has a wide creek crossing 150-120yd out from the green. Enjoyed the great Fall conditions here today as leaves never were a problem. Ended up shooting 41/40 w/32 putts as missing the fairways/greens in the right areas paid dividends. This is a must play if you are in this area, unless you don't like water.
